Rupert Howell, ITV's Managing Director of Brand Communications, said there is an increasing appetite by politicians for interfering with the advertising market to achieve certain policy objectives. His main point though was that the evidence shows advertising bans do not work. 01:31
Ben Clarke, Kraft Food's VP & Area Director UK & Ireland, said advertising can help define new consumer needs in terms of healthier, more sustainable products but in restricting the ability of companies to advertise their lines the incentive for them to innovate is reduced. 05:40
Baroness Jean Coussins, ASA Council member, believed that the advertising industry must stop arguing against further restrictions and proactively take the issue of social responsibility and make it its own. 07:42
